IT teams all over world tend to increasingly use blockchain as the technology that would massively advance cost efficiency of resources spent. The majority of those teams arrive at the conсlusion that revolutionary changes in the industry will be driven by something more than mere optimization of existing technologies. The Privatix project team that have announced their plans to develop a marketplace for idle traffic, told about their vision of the global network and their bid to contribute to finding a proper solution.

Why traffic?

Based on statistics posted by the Privatix team, over 90% of prepaid Internet traffic remains unused. Low network efficiency constitutes a scaling challenge since medium and big businesses have to inject increasingly more money to support their infrastructure.

At present, a common user is familiar with VPN services for some reason or other, and VPN is mainly the choice of those who prefer safety and freedom to censorship. Privatix VPN provider believe that establishment of a decentralized bandwidth marketplace based on a P2P VPN network would find the answer to many problems in the industry including these mentioned above.

A huge portion of traffic remains unused. The traffic unused by early bed-goers, white-collars at off-work time or hosting providers can be used with much better efficiency. Connection of big masses of people to this kind of network would reshape the industry.

“Sell your Internet bandwidth in a few clicks if you do not use it. By doing that, you will offer the chance for developers to build the product that will upend the VPN, data protection, CDN, mass data collection markets to name but a few,” says Dmitri Rusakov, CEO at Privatix that developed Temp-mail.org, a popular temporary email service.

Challenges for the Internet

There is a forecast of 5 billion Internet users worldwide in 2020, from 3.4 billion in 2016. The immense growth of Internet popularity is accompanied with strict limitations imposed by regulatory bodies including censorship, poor mobile connection and low-speed Internet access.

Guys at Privatix say that ignoring the Network Neutrality principle is the key issue of the Internet of today. The Network Neutrality concept suggests that telecommunication service providers not favor some websites or app classes over other. In other words, there should be equal possibilities of access to the Internet without any deceleration and blocking of access to web services, for one entity in favor of the other.

Governments and cybercriminals permanently collect user data and trace people; the right for private life and correspondence are not respected. And these are just a few problems that need to be addressed. The level of tech solutions for today cannot leverage the risks of low cybersecurity. The damage incurred by cybercriminals was $3 billion in 2015, and is expected to go up to $6 billion in 2021, according to Cybersecurity Ventures.

Connection rates are another problem. You can see an average Internet bandwidth differ radically across different regions worldwide. However, there is an evident trend in the exponential growth of the amount of content due to improvements in its qualitative features that stem from the emergence of new standards such as HD, Full HD, and others.

No solutions so far. Why?

VPN technologies can solve the network neutrality problem in technological terms; however, the existing centralized VPN providers have some drawbacks. Monitoring the market you can see their false statements on 100% anonymity, sales of user information and increased prices because of tight competition and marketing investments instead of investing into product development. It is dubious whether the environment where VPN providers operate can maintain confidentiality to the full extent. But a common user has to pay much for the existing VPN solutions because the today’s market cannot offer any reasonable alternatives.

“Privatix Network will reduce costs and increase profits on the VPN consumer market, eliminate intermediary services and enable people to share their Internet bandwidth by means of P2P sharing, which would enhance the total efficiency of information exchange on the Internet. We will open up new prospects for developing of network-based apps and services related to CDN, data collection, Business Intelligence, anti-censorship SDKs for apps, and other,” state Privatix team members.

The Privatix team has published their whitepaper that reviews a concept of the decentralized, autonomous P2P-network on blockchain with its own crypto economy, to create the world’s first Internet bandwidth marketplace.

The whitepaper reads: “The network will consist of thousands or even millions of exit nodes all over the world.”

The decentralized network will serve as a decentralized, anonymous, fast and cheap way of exchanging idle traffic with direct payments to the bandwidth owner; besides, the network can serve as a basis for CDN blockchains, IP address marketplace, an anti-censorship SDK for developers and even mobile app monetization tools.

What is the project about

Privatix plan to build a VPN network based on the Ethereum blockchain, which will help solve the problems of Internet censorship and security, and will make Internet connection faster due to a total high capacity of the unused bandwidth. The fixed-emission PRIX token will be used as the only means of exchange between Privatix network users, and all bandwidth buy/sell transactions will be effected by using that token.

PRIX based on the Ethereum ERC20 standard will be an integral part of the Privatix network and its key purpose is to be the medium of exchange between network members.

The project is aimed at creating a decentralized autonomous network on blockchain. In prospect, the team plans to develop a range of network-powered products to show the money-generating potential of the Privatix network. The in-house products are needed to demonstrate major features of the new platform and raise money from utilizing their own network on early stages. The project team believes their solutions are going to change the VPN and CDN markets, online data protection, large-scale data collection and other fields.

A distributed block-proof blockchain-based VPN will be the first product that the team is going to focus on.

“We are sure our product will fix the problem of cybersecurity and Internet censorship for good. We are going to revolutionize the VPN market, enabling people to use a free VPN if they share their bandwidth with other people, or earn $5-$10 a year, which is 10-20 times cheaper than the cost of VPN services of today.”

Privatix is preparing for the Token Sale scheduled for 19 October 2017, 14:00 UTC. They had a successful early-bird presale campaign and now they are registering prospective contributors on the Whitelist to be completed on 17 October.
